A high/low affair made possible by a gilded tablescape and my favorite delivery app.

The art of le dîner is quite possibly my most resounding love language. For anyone who has been here for more than nine seconds, this will not be news. And it certainly will not come as a surprise to know that I am constantly looking for new hosting inspiration and ways to celebrate beautiful friendships, lay the way for invigorating conversations and create more authentic togetherness in a world that can oftentimes feel far too ingenuine.

Suffering from a bit of burnout due to non-stop life madness lately, and yet still craving my creative outlet of cultivated dining experiences, I sought to bring a new, wildly fun and unexpected take to my dinner party scene. For the evening, I wanted a no-stress evening featuring a flirty feast, cute cocktail hour and a gilded age meets modern electric vibe. Thus the idea of a high/low affair was born. Tonight’s dinner party is a prime example of my love of incorporating unexpected elements and unique interpretations to the world of les soirées, and this affair might just be the perfect dream of ease meets chic.

And now, may I present to you, the elements of the affair… My ‘new’ 1890's gilded Ginori china carefully laid out across an antique french linen tablecloth (perfectly embroidered), silver platters galore, an eclectic collection of antique silverware, tapered candles for extra elegance and a dramatic floral arrangement with an unexpected and perfectly juxtaposed menu – A table set for the finest feast paired with take out burgers and fries from my beloved The Win-Dow in Silver Lake. Et voila! An exquisite yet unexpected high/low love match.

From start to finish, the evening was a hit. Setting the tone with a freshly made hugo spritz as guests trickled in, followed closely by the main event of burgers & fries and ending the soirée with my famous homemade s’more tarts. We went through far too many bottles of wine, captured perfect moments on film and polaroids and created memories that will last a lifetime. This is exactly why I love hosting dinner parties so very much. In a world where we are constantly doing, going and scrolling, it is nice to disconnect from the grind and reconnect with what truly matters – Unabashed laughter, meaningful conversation and friendships that feel like family! May you too be inspired to host your own high/low evening. The take-out possibilities are endless. Xx
