I fancy myself the Queen of Halloween. ‘Tis a holiday where my creativity reigns supreme and an adoration of woodlands and witchcraft influence every detail of the evening. A night where magic and wonder come alive, I have long been curating Halloween’s of spooky delight. For me it is all about the theatrics of the night. The way it all comes together. The theme, the menu, my dress and the guests. This year, the essence of a forbidden forest, brought to fruition through a hauntingly beautiful tablescape and a menu straight from a ghoulish dream would be the foundation of my eerie soirée. A chic take on the holiday fueled by my love of enchanting storytelling and spooky tales of frights in the night. For within an All Hallow’ Eve affaire, anything is possible.

Behold a centerpiece made to evoke the sense of an eerie forest, a feast inspired from a passage in the Irving’s short story…

For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with Autumn. The crisp, misty mornings, the rich amber and chocolate jewel tones, the sweet scent of damp earth under a blanket of fallen leaves, and piles of summer vines and vegetable garden remnants being burned before winter sets in. There is a magical element to it all. A sense of wonder and possibilities and an urge to turn inward, settling in for the coming months. Autumn to me, feels as if the world is glowing for one last time before the frosty tones of winter come sweeping in. A stunning farewell to the year, a final moment of golden glory before we shed the season, awaiting to start anew with hints of spring in a few months time. It is, without a doubt, my most favorite time of the year.

The perfect intro to cozy season. A hearty chicken pot pie, velvety mashed potatoes, honeyed green beans and caramel apple tartelettes.

Inspired by some of my favorite halloween films, I have created a few hauntingly delicious cocktails, perfect to brew up for your halloween soirée or a movie fright night. We have The Headless Horseman, inspired by the tale of Sleepy Hollow and featured at my own All Hallow’s Eve event this year! This cocktail will awaken any head seeking spirit with the warmth of bourbon paired with the velvety sweetness of spiced apple and pumpkin. Next, we take an ingredient from the famous Sanderson Sisters of Hocus Pocus, the Dead Man’s Toe… And make it a fresh one! A cloudy green potion topped with a rotting toe (a well toasted marshmallow), a concoction that is sure to provide you with the lives of endless children. And finally, we have Practical Magic’s Midnight Margaritas. Inspired by the 90’s witches we all wish we could be, this powerful spell is sure to banish the soul of any toxic ex… You simply need your trusty coven and a sturdy cocktail shaker.

Recipes for three fabulously frightful cocktails.

I adore a good Halloween movie night. Dimmed lights, curled up on the couch with an oversized bowl of popcorn and a spooky (not scary) flick. Nights such as these have endlessly fueled my creativity and imagination surrounding the Halloween holiday and the autumnal season as a whole. When craving a reprieve from the day-to-day, I can pick out a tried and true classic from the list in the article and disappear into a world where misty woodlands and Victorian dream homes come alive with tales of mystery and enchantment.

Snuggle up with a halloween film, some fancy pumpkin pie popcorn and a spooky cocktail.

I appreciate subtle decor. Things that feel more quietly spooky, enriching a space versus overpowering. Elements that provide an eerie sense, create haunting shadows and spark a bit of wonder. I love to create halloween inspired centerpieces on side tables, add bits of thrill to a bookcase and set a hauntingly elevated tone with a black and white color palette featuring organic elements such as branches, dried flowers and piles of fairytale pumpkins.

Be inspired by classic ghost stories and the elegance of a haunted forest to create chic and elegant decorations.
