Visions of Summer — August 2024 Vol. Nº11

Cheers to a summer that has far too much pasta, endless scoops of gelato and evenings enjoyed al fresco. The European lifestyle with holidays in Portofino, homemade desserts and the Italian countryside is my absolute cup of tea – So naturally, creating a world where that mindset is always present, despite the confines of my physical location, is a lifelong goal.

Dive into the August edition of Le Supper Club as I seek to cultivate European inspiration for a picturesque summertime lifestyle. Where idyllic visions of Italian adventure are served with a slice of perfectly peachy ‘Peach Cream Pie’... For what is summer without visions of a European holiday and peaches? Xx

The Beauty of High Summer

Inspire your summer with Italian Riviera adventures, tales from a charming hilltop B&B and a peach pie full of summertime nostalgia.

Escape to Città Sant’Angelo

There is an amber glow to the late afternoon. Golden straw catches the light as the warm breeze gently runs its fingers through the long strands framing the gravel road, bits left behind after the high summer cutting. Olive groves and grape vines dapple the rolling hills as I climb to the ancient city, Città Sant’Angelo. With origins that date back to 875 I am instantly swept off my feet by the history, the hospitality and the charm of this hilltop comune. Fittingly crowned as one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia (‘The most beautiful villages of Italy’), it is an absolute treasure for any traveler in need of a slow, intentional experience.

Featuring an exquisite Bed and Breakfast that perfectly pairs with the natural beauty of Città dell’Angelo.

Portofino Dreams

Beach clubs sporting a vibrant blanket of umbrellas and crystal clear waters. The best tomatoes imaginable and endless bottles of chilled wine. Unreal pasta sauces and way too much heat and humidity. Winding streets that should definitely not be two ways and ports filled with luxury yachts parked alongside little wooden row boats. This is the Italian Riviera.

The pictures that you see while scrolling Pinterest and the highlights from articles boasting ‘The Most Beautiful Coastal Towns in Italy’ all come to life as you drive through Portofino on your way to the fancy beach club at which you were so lucky to snag a last minute umbrella reservation. The colorful array of towels and umbrellas dotting the rocky beaches, the white-noise hum of the cicadas, the thick heat that draws you into the turquoise and aqua blue waters… it all becomes a moving postcard straight out of the gift shop. I feel incredibly lucky that my wild life has finally brought me to Italy, granting me the experiences that for years, I have only been able to collect in my dreams.

Straight out of a picture book, the Italian Riviera lives up to every Pinterest travel board you have ever created.

Cream Peach Pie

There is something so special about peach season. For a brief moment at the height of summer, this stone fruit comes alive. Velvety skin with a subtle fragrance, dreamy August sunburst tones and perfectly juicy sweetness. Delicious alone, with freshly whipped cream, served savory or sweet… There are countless ways to savor a peach. But for me, this summertime staple is most at home when nestled into a flakey crust and bathed in a custardy filling. This is cream peach pie. And summer simply would not be summer without it.

The crowning gem of summer all dressed up in flaky crust and custard filling.

Do you know the legend about cicadas? They say they are the souls of poets who cannot keep quiet because, when they were alive, they never wrote the poems they wanted to.
